Systems Administrator / IT Support

Mile Two is growing and we are seeking a systems administrator / IT support person to engage and drive our current and future projects to the next level and champion our customer relationships.

Job Description

The SA/IT support person will be a self-starter taking responsibility for basic network and systems maintenance; installation, system upgrades with monitoring software and hardware are essential functions

You will maintain all essential functions such as operating systems, security tools, webservers, email, PCs, local and wide area networking hardware and software

This System Administrator / IT Support person has three (3) or more years of System Administrator / IT Help Desk related experience and will report to the Director of Engineering.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Install and configure software and hardware
  • Manage network servers, Network troubleshooting and technology tools
  • Account management, Active Directory, set up accounts and workstations with password reset responsibilities
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages in a prompt manner to minimize down time
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Additional job responsibilities as assigned

What You Need to Bring

  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, IT Support or similar role
  • Experience monitoring, running and backing up business applications such as databases
  • Linux server setup and admin (Ubuntu, Nvida, NFS, IP and subnet setup)
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
